Omaha, Neb.: Open Door Mission and Clarkson College have announced new ways to strengthen its relationship through an official community partnership. A signing of the enhanced partnership agreement took place at Open Door Mission on Monday, April 1, 2024.
The two organizations share a long history benefiting both the community members served by the Open Door Mission and Clarkson College students. In addition to students gaining valuable experience, the agreement outlines a new commitment: Clarkson College will make every attempt to provide a Registered Nurse (RN) up to eight hours per week to administer duties such as health assessments and wellness information sessions for the men, women, and children being served by the Mission. The partnership expansion also includes educational tuition benefits for all Open Door Mission employees, as well as their spouses and dependent children, to receive substantial scholarships for degree-seeking programs at Clarkson College (for example, $28,000 over four years toward a Bachelor’s degree.) All applicants who meet admissions qualifications and are seeking enrollment in online programs will be accepted. Preference will be given to applicants enrolling in on-campus programs through additional points on their application.
“Open Door Mission is grateful for the faithful long standing partnership with Clarkson College,” stated Open Door Mission President/CEO, Candace Gregory. “The faculty, staff, and students are an asset in the day-to-day medical services offered to the most vulnerable patients at the Open Door Mission's Free Health and Wellness Center. We look forward to serving others together with compassion, care and dignity.”
“This educational partnership expansion evolved because of the connectedness of our organizations’ missions and values and our shared dedication to living those values,” stated Clarkson College President, Dr. Andreia Nebel. “Clarkson College and Open Door Mission are committed to quality experiences, excellence, teamwork and integrity, and we look forward to this enhanced partnership as we continue to serve our students, Open Door Mission residents and employees, and the community at large.”
The partnership leads the way to creating a more highly trained, compassionate workforce and opportunities for career advancement. “Clarkson College provides most of its educational degree programming through an online platform with part- and full-time options available, which meets the needs of Open Door Mission employees,” stated Dr. Nebel.
Open Door Mission embodies their mission of meeting the needs of individuals and families while inspiring hope for lasting change. Their goals and vision align closely with the Clarkson College Values and Mission to prepare students to professionally provide high quality, ethical and compassionate health care services.
