In summer 2021, Clarkson College Professional Development launched a Phlebotomy Technician course that allows individuals to complete required courses online and become certified phlebotomy technicians.
The course aims to help meet the demand for qualified technicians in the phlebotomy field, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the phlebotomy field is projected to grow 17% by 2029, much faster than the average for most fields. Following completion of the course, participants will have numerous job opportunities in a variety of health care settings.
The course involves online theory courses as well as an externship that allows participants to gain hands-on experience. Throughout the course, participants will gain an understanding of basic anatomy with an emphasis on the cardiovascular system, pathophysiology and hematology testing. They’ll also learn the techniques and safety measures involved in drawing blood to prepare them for work in a variety of settings.
The Professional Development Phlebotomy Technician course can be completed in as few as 12 months. For more information and to enroll in the course, visit ClarksonCollege.edu/Professional-Development.
